Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Evaluation Services

If you are currently working with a therapist, psychiatrist, or other mental health professional and need support obtaining an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) letter, we offer supplemental ESA evaluations designed to work collaboratively alongside your established care. You are not required to transfer providers or discontinue existing treatment.
ESA evaluations are completed through an ethical, trauma-informed clinical process to determine whether an Emotional Support Animal is an appropriate support for your mental health needs.

ESA FAQs & Legal Information

  • Comprehensive clinical assessment for ESA eligibility
  • Review of mental health history, current symptoms, and functional impact
  • A formal ESA letter meeting current clinical and legal standards (when indicated)
  • Collaborative communication with your existing provider, with written consent
  • Guidance regarding housing and workplace considerations related to ESAs

Important: Completion of an evaluation does not guarantee issuance of an ESA letter. Letters are provided only when clinically appropriate.

ESA evaluations may be a good fit for individuals who:

  • ✔ Are already engaged in ongoing therapy or psychiatric care
  • ✔ Have been referred or supported by their current provider for an ESA letter
  • ✔ Are seeking additional emotional regulation, comfort, or symptom support through an ESA

Yes. Emotional Support Animals are recognized under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) as a reasonable accommodation for individuals with a qualifying mental health condition. ESAs are not service animals and do not have public access rights.

In most cases, housing providers must offer reasonable accommodation for an ESA and may not charge pet fees or enforce pet restrictions. A landlord may deny an ESA request only if:

  • The animal poses a direct threat to others
  • The animal causes significant property damage
  • The housing provider qualifies for a specific FHA exemption

Landlords may request reliable documentation from a licensed mental health professional.

No. ESAs do not have public access rights under federal law. Workplace accommodations are handled separately and are not guaranteed.

No. Under current airline regulations, Emotional Support Animals are no longer protected for air travel and are typically subject to standard pet policies.

ESA letters are typically valid for 12 months. Many housing providers require current documentation, and renewals require a new clinical evaluation.

Legal & Ethical Disclosures (HUD/FHA-Aligned)

  • Emotional Support Animals are protected under the Fair Housing Act (FHA) but are not service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • ESA letters issued by this practice are based on clinical assessment and medical necessity, not client request alone.
  • ESA letters do not provide access to public spaces, workplaces, or airline travel.
  • Housing providers may verify ESA documentation in accordance with FHA guidelines.
  • All ESA evaluations are completed in compliance with HUD guidance, ethical standards of care, and professional scope of practice.

* All animal involvement prioritizes safety, consent, and attunement for both clients and animals.

Cost of Services

Our licensed clinicians specialize in adult neurodivergence and are highly qualified to guide you through this process. The assessment and screening services are specifically for adults (18+) who believe they may have ADHD or be autistic. We offer two (2) options for those seeking validation of their neurodivergence.

This 2-part system allows you to receive services at a speed that is comfortable for you. It also allows you to divide the cost over time. If your screening indicates that continuing with the diagnosis is not warranted, or the screening is sufficient to satisfy your needs, you do not have to spend any additional time or money completing the comprehensive assessment.
